In twilight’s glow, a firefly flew,
Her wings were weak, her heart was too.
She battled storms, and skies turned grey,
Yet never stopped, she found her way.
A fragile light in darkest night,
A flicker born from endless fight.
Through winds that howled and rains that poured,
She faced each trial, each wound she’d stored.
A soul that trembled, filled with doubt,
But in her glow, she never hid out.
For every wound became her spark,
A tiny flame within the dark.
The forest whispered tales of woe,
Of battles fought and dreams laid low.
She knew the pain, the weight of fear,
But still, her light was crystal clear.
She shone to guide, to help, to lead,
A beacon for those in need.
Her greatest foe was never night,
But shadows deep within her light.
She wrestled doubt, she fought despair,
The hardest war was always there.
But with each breath, each flicker bright,
She learned to trust her inner light.
At last, she soared, both free and true,
Her glow a testament to what she knew.
The firefly who once feared her fall,
Now shines above, embracing all.
For in the end, the brightest flame
Is born from struggle, and self’s reclaim.

Every book is a journey. I walk beside my characters through landscapes both real and imagined, often drawn to the raw honesty and resilience of those shaped by rugged places and more challenging times. There’s truth in that kind of grit, and I find it endlessly compelling.
